John has walked all our canals, many times, and many in Europe, including the Canal de Midi. He lives close to the River Lee Navigation in North London. His first canal guide was Short walks along the Chesterfield Canal., which earnt him being made an Honary Vice President. He continues to walk and explore the canals and recently he walked and explored the Lost Canals of London - fourteen of them!
Canals, the transport system of 250 years ago are full of history and quiet corridors through our landscape and cities. Many still have narrowboats on and some are abandoned, but many are being restored adding to our rich heritage.
Happy walking!
